Veteran Tata RK Krishna Kumar Passes Away at 85, Death Reason – Cardiac Arrest

RK Krishna Kumar who was the former director at Tata Sons and considered very close to Ratan Tata, passed away on January 1, at 85 years old, in Mumbai. According to media reports, His death was caused by cardiac arrest. Kumar was also a trustee for Sir Dorabji Tata Trust and Sir Ratan Tata Trust, which owns 66% ownership in Tata Sons.

RK Krishna Kumar passed away from cardiac arrest at around 6 pm on Sunday night at his residence. Tata Group officials said that his funeral rites would be held on the 3 January at 4.30 pm in the Chandanwadi cremation ground.

After stepping down from the directorship at Tata Sans, Krishna Kumar remained engaged in other activities belonging to Tata Sans and the Tata group. He was a part of the Tata Administrative Service and continued to work for Ratan Tata’s consulting company, TCS, RNT Associates, and other trusts in the Tata group. Krishnakumar was regarded as intimate and close to Ratan Tata.

Ratan Tata expressed grief over the passing of Krishna Kumar and said that the passing of his classmate and friend RK Krishnakumar has caused great grief. The loss cannot be expressed in words. They will not be forgotten both as a whole or individually. Ratan Tata, Chairman, of Tata Trusts, said that Krishna Kumar was a loyal member of the Tata Group and will be missed by all.
