Prince William and Kate Middleton’s royal wedding took place in 2011. Since then the gown has been talking of the town. A lot of celebrities have taken inspiration from it even Megan Markel’s wedding dress was compared to it. 

The dress was made by the house of Alexander McQueen. Head designer Sarah Burton worked closely with kate in order to understand what was her expectation from them. The official station from the palace regarding the dress stated-  “Miss Middleton chose British brand Alexander McQueen for the beauty of its craftsmanship and its respect for traditional workmanship and the technical construction of clothing. Miss Middleton wished for her dress to combine tradition and modernity with the artistic vision that characterizes Alexander McQueen’s work. “

You can tell by checking the silhouette that, the bodice was made in traditional victorian corsetry, narrowed at the waist, and then padded a little at the midsection. A typical McQueen’s signature style

Nearly nine-feet-long train

Ever since Princess Diana wore whopping 25 feet in length at her wedding, people were curious about how kate will be debuting her train at the Westminster Abbey. Kate’s short as compared to Diana’s train i.e 70 cm in length. However, kate’s dress also contained 58 gazar and a back button covered in organza fabric.

The lace appliqué on the skirt and bodice were handmade by the Royal School of Needlework. The tailor used the Carrickmacross lace-making technique while stitching the gown. It also included lace flowers, and daffodils made individually and stitched on the silk tulle.
