10 people dead after cab falls into deep gorge in J&K

At least ten bodies were recovered from an accident site on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway where a cab plunged into a gorge. The incident took place in Ramban district in the early hours of Friday when a cab carrying passengers went out of the driver’s control and fell into a deep gorge near Battery Chashma.

Officials confirmed the recovery of ten bodies from the accident site and mentioned that teams of police, SDRF, and quick response team (QRT) were immediately deployed for the rescue operation. The rescue efforts were initially hampered by incessant rain and darkness but were resumed with the first light on Friday. The operation is ongoing as more details are awaited.

Police, SDRF, and civil QRT Ramban are involved in the rescue operation, working tirelessly to retrieve any remaining passengers from the accident site. The authorities have not provided any information regarding the exact number of passengers in the cab or the cause of the accident. The incident has once again highlighted the dangers of driving on mountainous roads, especially during adverse weather conditions.

The authorities have urged caution while driving on hilly terrains and have advised travelers to adhere to safety guidelines to prevent such tragic accidents. As the rescue operation continues, the community is left in shock and mourning over the loss of lives in this unfortunate incident on the Jammu-Srinagar highway.
