The famous actress was born in Indore to a Marathi family on 19th December 1984. Her father is Shashikant Lokhande while her mother’s name is Vandana Phadnis Lokhande, a teacher. She has two siblings Sooraj and Arun along with one sister Jyoti. After completing her studies she moved to Mumbai to start her acting career.
Ankita Lokhande debuted her acting career with Balaji Telefilms’ daily show Pavitra Rishta on Zee TV. Till her career in television, she was one the highest paid actress. Later she moved to films making her Bollywood debut with Baaghi 3 and Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi.
In 2010, Ankita started dating her Pavitra Rishta co-star Sushant Singh Rajput. The couple were often part of headlines as they were the favourite TV couple back in the day. The couple participated in the dance reality hit show Jhalak Dikhlaja 4. Rajput even proposed to her on the set of the dance show, During the interview in 2016 they were planning to get married but the couple later broke up.
In 2018 Ankita Lokhande stated in an interview that she will be playing the role of Jhalkaribai, a warrior in Krish and Kangana Ranaut’s joint directorial venture Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi – Rani Lakshmi Bai. The movie was released on Republic Day in 2019, receiving a lot of praise from the audience. It did well at the box office making her first commercial hit film.
