IAS Rinku Dugga Gets Compulsory Retirement Post Picture With Her Went Viral on Internet

Renowned IAS officer Rinku Dugga has been recently propelled to take early retirement. This happened following allegations escalated that she was walking with her husband, Sanjeev Khirwar in New Delhi’s Tyagraj Stadium with their dog.

The Indian Express reported that this decision has been taken by the Indian government post undergoing a strict and thorough review of Rinku Dugga’s career record as a public servant.

Furthermore, as per the report, the decision regarding compelling Rinku Dugga to take retirement voluntarily surfaced based on the assessment and evaluation of her past conduct.

The retirement of Rinku Dugga, currently holding the position of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) has been taken as per Rule 48, Fundamental Rules (FR) 56 (J) of the Central Civil Service Rules of 1972.

This rule gives the Indian Government power to ask a government officer to voluntarily retire on his own if the same seems right in the public interest.

The Controversy

Rinku Dugga’s controversy with her husband escalated when a picture of them walking on the Tyagraj stadium went viral on social media. Consequentialy the duo was transferred to Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh. Thus, they were transferred far away from the national capital.

When their picture surfaced on the internet, the Ministry of Home Affairs received a report. The report was sent by the Delhi chief secretary that stated the ‘factual position’ of the issue. The report stated that the facilities at Thyagraj Stadium were allegedly misused by the couple. This report instigated massive outrage from the public and athletes alike.

Then Rinku Dugga was just 54 years old transferred to the Indigenous Affairs Department in Arunachal Pradesh holding the position of Principal Secretary. The IAS officer continued her role in Arunachal Pradesh until her recent retirement order. Her husband Sanjeev Khirwar, 1994-batch IAS officer, was transferred to Ladakh.

The image that went viral on social media was clicked last year. The picture portrays the duo walking on the Tyagraj Stadium in Delhi, which was empty. They were taking their evening walk. Thus this issue revealed that the IAS officers stroll with dogs in the stadium and put restrictions put on all sorts of activities after 7 p.m.
