Chandrababu Naidu condemns attacks on media in Andhra Pradesh

TDP Chief Naidu Demands Action Against Attacks on Media

TDP national President Nara Chandrababu Naidu has strongly condemned “consistent attacks” on the media and has demanded stringent action against those involved. In a letter to the Director General of Police, Naidu demanded action against Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy for making “false statements to provoke hatred and enmity among groups only with the sole aim of instigating violence”.

Naidu expressed concern over state-sponsored attacks on the freedom of the press, media houses, journalists, and photographers ever since the YSRCP came to power. He pointed out that the GO 2430 issued in October 2019 is aimed at suppressing voices and has led to murders, physical, and verbal attacks on journalists across the state.

The former Chief Minister also highlighted the recent attacks on media personnel, including the attack on a contributor in Amaravathi mandal of Palnadu district on February 14. He also mentioned the brutal attack on a photographer of Telugu daily Andhra Jyothy on February 18, which took place during a political meeting in Anantapur district, and an attack on the office of Telugu daily Eenadu in Kurnool on February 20.

Naidu emphasized that all these attacks are state-sponsored and are “instigated by Jagan Mohan Reddy” in an attempt to suppress the freedom of the press and media. He called for stringent action against those involved in the attacks and for holding the Chief Minister accountable for his role in provoking these incidents.

It is evident that Nara Chandrababu Naidu is deeply concerned about the safety and freedom of the press in Andhra Pradesh and is calling for action to put an end to the attacks on media personnel. His demand for stringent action and accountability from the Chief Minister reflects the seriousness of the situation and the urgent need for intervention to protect the freedom of the press in the state.
