4th Test: India reach 118/3 at lunch, need 74 more runs to win over England

India are on the brink of victory in the fourth Test against England in Ranchi, needing 74 more runs to win. However, they suffered early setbacks losing captain Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Rajat Patidar in the first session of day four’s play.

At lunch, India stands at 118/3, with Shubman Gill and Ravindra Jadeja at the crease. The team started well, with Rohit scoring a fifty and sharing an 84-run opening stand with Jaiswal. But England fought back, taking crucial wickets to peg India back to 100/3.

Rohit’s innings included some impressive shots, but he fell for 55 after being stumped off a delivery from left-arm spinner Hartley. Jaiswal, on the other hand, departed after an edge off Root’s bowling. Patidar also fell quickly, leaving India in a precarious position.

England’s bowlers kept a tight grip on Gill and Jadeja, raising hopes of a possible win. India, however, will rely on their middle order to guide them to victory and seal the series.

With the match finely poised, all eyes will be on how India’s batsmen handle the pressure in the upcoming sessions. Will they be able to chase down the target and secure the win? The final outcome of the match hangs in the balance.
