Railways refute claims of gas leak on TVM-Kasargod Vande Bharat route

Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 28 (IANS) – The Indian Railways denied reports of a gas leak in the Thiruvananthapuram–Kasargod Vande Bharat Express. The incident involved a fire extinguisher being mistakenly activated by onboard cleaning staff, causing white mist in coach C-5. Fortunately, no fire or harm occurred to passengers.

According to the Railways statement, a white mist incident was reported in the train, leading to a temporary stoppage for inspection. The onboard technical staff found that the aerosol-type fire extinguisher in the toilet of coach C-5 had been accidentally activated, causing the mist.

After the initial inspection, the train proceeded to Aluva station for further examination of the affected coach. It was determined that the fire extinguisher had activated due to an inadvertent pull of the safety catch by one of the cleaning staff members.

The Railways clarified that the mist mistaken for a gas leak was actually a result of the activated fire extinguisher. The advanced fire detection and extinguishing mechanisms in place ensured the safety of all passengers onboard the Vande Bharat Express.

In conclusion, the Railways emphasized that all passengers were unharmed, and the situation was quickly addressed with appropriate safety measures. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of proper handling and maintenance of onboard equipment to prevent misunderstandings and ensure passenger safety.
