Shop cashier in South Delhi absconds with Rs 1 crore, apprehended

In a recent development, a south Delhi cloth shop cashier and two others aiding him have been arrested for allegedly fleeing with Rs 1 crore of business receipts. The cashier, identified as Rishabh Kumar Sharma, was apprehended along with his accomplices Sachin Yadav and Aakash in New Delhi.

Sharma, a resident of Greater Kailash-I, worked at a cloth shop in South Extension. The shop owner filed a complaint stating that Sharma collected the cash to deposit at a bank but never returned. Upon investigation, CCTV footage was analyzed, leading the police to trace Sharma’s movements using a scooty in Sarita Vihar and Nehru Place.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, South, Ankit Chauhan mentioned that Sharma contacted Yadav through internet calling, disclosing his whereabouts in Dehradun. The police raided Yadav’s uncle’s house in Pul Prahladpur and recovered Rs 91,19,500. Subsequently, Sharma and his wife were apprehended at Nizamuddin Railway Station with recovered cash amounting to Rs 93,46,000.

During interrogation, Sharma admitted to becoming greedy upon seeing the substantial amount of cash that had not been deposited for a few days. He confessed to planning the theft and enlisting the help of Yadav and Aakash. The police seized two empty bags used to carry the cash from a forest area in Aali village as evidence in the case.

The swift action by the police led to the successful recovery of the stolen cash and arrest of the culprits involved in the crime. The authorities are commended for cracking the case and bringing the perpetrators to justice, ensuring that such incidents are not repeated in the future.
