KCR’s daughter Kavitha detained by ED in Delhi liquor policy case and to be taken to Delhi

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K. Kavitha in the Delhi excise policy case after conducting searches at her residence in Hyderabad. Kavitha, the daughter of BRS President K. Chandrasekhar Rao, is being brought to New Delhi by a flight on Friday night. Tension erupted outside her residence as BRS leaders protested her arrest.

BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao and senior leader T. Harish Rao were stopped outside Kavitha’s house but later allowed in by ED officials. BRS leader V. Prashanth Reddy condemned the arrest as “illegal” and accused the Modi government of using it to instill fear among BRS leaders ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

Prashanth Reddy claimed that the ED’s sudden arrest of Kavitha was premeditated, despite her upcoming hearing in the Supreme Court to prevent her arrest in a money laundering case. He vowed that the BRS would challenge this alleged act of political vendetta by the BJP in the court of public opinion.

The ED had previously interrogated Kavitha and issued summons to her, which she had not responded to since October last year. Kavitha had filed a petition in the Supreme Court contesting the summons. The developments surrounding her arrest have sparked outrage among BRS supporters and leaders, who are denouncing it as a politically motivated move by the central government.
