Chennai Super Kings dominate Gujarat Titans, winning by 63 runs in IPL 2024

In a rematch of the 2023 final, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) dominated Gujarat Titans with Deepak Chahar striking early blows, helping CSK register a 63-run victory in Match 7 of IPL 2024 at M.A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. CSK’s clinical performance with bat and ball outplayed Gujarat Titans, who were restricted to 143/8 in 20 overs.

CSK’s pacers showcased their dominance by claiming six wickets as they utilized the conditions well on a pitch with slightly more grass. After posting a competitive total of 206/6, Chahar’s early wickets set the tone for CSK as he dismissed Gujarat Titans’ skipper Shubman Gill in the third over.

Despite a good start, Gujarat Titans lost wickets at regular intervals and failed to build momentum in their chase. CSK’s high intensity and superb fielding added pressure on the visitors, with Rachin Ravindra taking three well-judged catches and Ajinkya Rahane pulling off a brilliant diving catch to entertain the packed stadium.

Chahar’s figures of 2-28, along with Mustafizur Rahman’s 2-30 and Tushar Deshpande’s 2-21, highlighted CSK’s bowling dominance. Gujarat Titans struggled as their bowlers were hammered, losing wickets early in the Power-play to eventually finish at 143/8 in 20 overs, falling short by 63 runs in the chase of 207 set by CSK.
