BJP candidate and two Congress nominees submit nominations in Manipur

In Imphal, on March 27th, BJP’s Inner Manipur Lok Sabha seat candidate and Congress nominees for Inner and Outer Manipur constituencies filed their nominations. State Education Minister Thounaojam Basanta Kumar Singh filed for Inner Manipur seat accompanied by CM and state President, expressing confidence in BJP’s victory and resolving Manipur’s issues.

Congress candidates Angomcha Bimol Akoijam and Alfred Kanngam Arthur filed nominations for Inner Manipur and Outer Manipur respectively as consensus candidates of a 10-party bloc in Manipur. BJP is supporting Naga People’s Front nominee Kachui Timothy Zimik for the reserved Outer Manipur seat, a retired IRS officer whose nomination papers will be scrutinised.

The Inner Manipur seat and part of Outer Manipur will hold polls on April 19, while the remaining part of Outer Manipur will vote on April 26. Thounaojam Basanta Kumar Singh, confident of BJP’s victory, stated “BJP will win comfortably with a huge margin of votes against the opponent candidate and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the country for the third consecutive term.” He also assured that prevailing issues in Manipur will be resolved with help from the Centre.
