Govinda joins Shiv Sena in presence of CM Shinde; potential candidate for Mumbai North West constituency

Mumbai, March 28 (IANS) Bollywood actor Govinda has officially joined the Shiv Sena party, led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Rumors suggest he may contest from Mumbai North West in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections against Shiv Sena nominee Amol Kirtikar.

Reports indicate that Govinda met with Shiv Sena functionary Krishna Hedge, expressing his interest in working at the national level. After joining the party, Govinda thanked Chief Minister Shinde and mentioned his return to active politics after a 14-year hiatus.

In the 2004 general elections, Govinda had won the Mumbai North seat on a Congress ticket, defeating BJP veteran Ram Naik. However, he shifted his focus back to acting after his term ended and remained distant from politics until now.
