Maharashtra: Congress claims BJP spreading misinformation about Navneet Kaur-Rana incident

The Maharashtra Congress has accused the state BJP President Chandrashekhar Bawankule of committing contempt of court and violating the model code of conduct by making false claims regarding BJP candidate Navneet Kaur-Rana. Congress spokesperson Atul Londhe has sent a letter to the Maharashtra CEO calling out Bawankule’s fraudulent statements.

According to Londhe, Bawankule falsely claimed that there was a Supreme Court order and judgement in favor of Navneet Kaur-Rana after she joined the BJP. This misinformation is seen as an attempt to influence voters and is considered a violation of the model code of conduct as well as a crime under the Indian Penal Code.

Londhe has submitted video clips of Bawankule’s statements and a copy of the SC case status and February 28, 2024 orders to prove that Bawankule’s claims are entirely false and misleading. It is believed that Bawankule intentionally provided false information to manipulate citizens’ perception and influence voters.

Navneet Kaur-Rana, who won the Amravati (SC) Lok Sabha seat as an Independent supported by other parties in the 2019 elections, is now nominated as a BJP candidate. The Maharashtra Congress is urging the authorities to take action against Bawankule for his alleged misconduct.
