Planet Fitness, the renowned gym chain, has recently received hoax bomb threats, which are all over the internet.
The bomb threats were received after the gym chain banned a 67-year-old customer for making a video of another customer and sharing it while the latter was inside the locker room, reported The New York Post.
Various US-based media announced that Planet Fitness received heavy threats about its trans-inclusive locker policy. The entire social media is full of backlash posts.
This incident occurred in Alaska, at the location of Planet Fitness in Fairbanks. The 67-year-old customer is Patricia Silva, who clicked a video of a female inside the woman’s locker room.
She shared the video on Facebook saying that the person could be a transwoman. Patricia Silva wrote in the caption that she witnessed “a man shaving in the women’s locker room.” She believed the customer to be a trans woman.
The 67-year-old added,
“I realize he wants to be a woman. He gets to be a woman. I love him in Christ. He’s a spiritual being having a human experience. He doesn’t like his gender. So he wants to be a woman. But I’m not comfortable with him shaving in my bathroom”.
According to TimesNow, later, the video garnered nearly 10 million views on TikTok when the conservative account Libs reposted the video. The gym chain cancelled the 67-year-old’s membership. They gave “violation of the mobile device policy” as the reason behind the cancellation.
Thus, in retaliation, social media was filled up with hoax bomb threats against the gym chain in a campaign resulting in 28 areas receiving bomb threats.
