For the last few months, the tussle between Twitter and the government is increasing continuously. New cases are coming out one after the other. Now Twitter is on target for showing the wrong map of India. Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh have been shown as separate countries on social media platforms. This wrong map (India Map) is visible under the ‘Tweep Life’ section on the career section of the Twitter website.

This is the second time that Twitter has shown the wrong map of India. Earlier the platform had shown Leh to be part of China.

Twitter has been in constant headlines since the new IT rules of the central government. The central government has been accusing the platform of not following the rules. Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has even said that the company is deliberately not following the new guidelines. Just a few days ago, in an interview, Ravi Shankar Prasad had said-

You have to organize a huge exam for the appointment of 3 office bearers? Do business, your users are welcome to ask questions but the constitution and laws of India will have to be followed.

Recently, under the new IT rules, Twitter had appointed Dharmendra Chatur as Grievance Officer, but amidst the tussle, Chatur has also resigned and now a US citizen has been appointed by this app as Grievance Officer.

Delhi Police had reached Twitter’s office

This dispute between the government and Twitter was at its peak in the last few months. This controversy had increased so much that till the closure of this social media platform, speculations were being made. Last month, in the “Toolkit Case”, several officers of the Special Cell of Delhi Police reached the This App office to serve a notice. Delhi Police had said in a statement, the Delhi Police team went to the Twitter office to give notice to Twitter as per the regular procedure. This was needed because we wanted to find out who was the right person to serve notice. This is because the reply of the MD of Twitter India is very vague.

A notice was also sent to Twitter India in the Ghaziabad elderly beating case. After this case, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad had accused Twitter of adopting double standards. Giving the example of the toolkit case, he said that if there is a rule for declaring tweets as manipulated or unmanipulated, then why did it not apply in the Ghaziabad case.
