Bengal Elections 2021: Mithun Chakraborty missing from BJP’s final List of Polls, will not compete in Elections

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released its final list of candidates for the 13 seats for the West Bengal assembly elections on Tuesday. The BJP’s list for the upcoming eight-phase assembly elections in the state surprisingly does not include the name of Bollywood superstar Mithun Chakraborty, who recently joined the saffron party.

After not being named in the list of new candidates, finally all the speculation of fighting the high-voltage election battle by Mithun, popular in Bengal and known as Dada, has also ended. Mithun Chakraborty attended the BJP’s grand rally at Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata on March 7, when he shared the dais with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and many other senior BJP leaders.

Recently, he shifted his voter ID card to Kolkata from Mumbai and registered his name in the voter list here. In such a situation, his name disappearing even from the last list of BJP seems to be a surprising decision.

The BJP has fielded retired Lieutenant General Subrata Saha from Kolkata’s Rasbihari constituency, while former Chief Economic Advisor Ashok Lahiri has been elected to the electoral battle from Balurghat in South Dinajpur. Earlier, Lahiri was fielded from Alipurduar in North Bengal, but the decision was changed after party workers protested.
