Bird Flu knock-in Maharashtra? 900 chickens died in Parbhani’s poultry farm

Parbhani’s district official said that about 900 chickens have died in Murumba village of Marathwada area in two days. We have sent samples of dead chickens for examination. “He said that the poultry farm where the chickens have died is run by the Self Help Group (SHG).

Deepak Mulgikar said, “There are about eight thousand chickens in this poultry farm. Out of which 900 chickens have died in two days. Not a single poultry has been reported dead in the last 24 hours. “The District Magistrate said that prima facie the cause of death of the chickens seems to be food-related but the investigation is awaiting results.

It is noteworthy that not a single case of bird flu has been reported in Maharashtra so far. So far, the Central Government has confirmed cases of bird flu in six states – Kerala, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Gujarat. However, the central government has issued an alert to all the state governments keeping in mind the bird flu.
