Harvik Desai to replace Vishnu Vinod in Mumbai Indians’ squad for IPL 2024

Mumbai Indians Sign Harvik Desai as Replacement for Injured Vishnu Vinod

Mumbai Indians have signed Saurashtra wicketkeeper-batter Harvik Desai as a replacement for Vishnu Vinod, who is ruled out for the rest of the season due to an injury. The 24-year-old Desai has excelled in all three formats in Indian domestic cricket and was part of the India U19 World Cup-winning team in 2018.

In T20s, Harvik has scored 691 runs in 27 matches at an average of 30.04 and a strike-rate of 134.17, with a century and five fifties to his name. He has been a key member of Saurashtra’s successful Ranji Trophy campaigns in 2019/20 and 2022/23, as well as their Vijay Hazare Trophy triumph in 2022/23 under the leadership of Jaydev Unadkat.

Desai will join Mumbai Indians, led by Hardik Pandya, for their upcoming matches against Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium. This signing comes as a boost for the team as they look to strengthen their squad in the ongoing IPL 2024 season.

“We are excited to have Harvik Desai join our team as a replacement for the injured Vishnu Vinod. Harvik’s experience and talent will be valuable additions to our squad as we aim to continue our winning momentum in the tournament,” said a Mumbai Indians spokesperson.
