IIT Roorkee Licenses Three Environmentally Sustainable Technologies to Permionics Global

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has signed a technology transfer agreement with Permionics Global Technologies for licensing three environmentally sustainable technologies. The patented technologies aim to eliminate staple burning issues in paddy/wheat fields and reduce silica waste while generating clean energy.

The electro-membrane process for caustic production from silica-rich washing-soda solution offers a more efficient and eco-friendly alternative to conventional lime-based causticisation techniques. Prof. K.K. Pant, Director of IIT Roorkee, highlighted the importance of sustainable development and the positive impact these technologies can have on society.

The collaboration between IIT Roorkee and Permionics reflects a step towards innovation and sustainable development. Satyajai Mayor, Managing Director of Permionics, emphasized the significance of leveraging research and innovations from institutions like IIT Roorkee for creating a brighter future. This technology transfer is expected to benefit academia, industry, and society as a whole in the long run.
