In 2024, Indian travellers embrace adventure, solo journeys, and travel hacks
New Delhi, March 19 (IANS) Indian travelers are set for an exciting year of exploration and adventure, with 62 per cent planning to increase their travel expenditure, according to the American Express 2024 Global Travel Trends Report. The report is based on a survey of travelers across seven countries.
The report reveals that Indian travelers are adept at utilizing travel hacks to maximize affordability and enjoyment. 43 per cent plan to use credit card points, 42 per cent opt for complimentary hotel benefits, and 35 per cent choose a blend of luxury and budget accommodations. 31 per cent plan trips during off-peak seasons or stay with friends and family for cost savings.

Solo travel is gaining popularity among Indian adults, with 34 per cent planning solo trips more frequently. Flexibility and spontaneity are key preferences, as 58 per cent are interested in last-minute trips and 40 per cent book a week or less in advance. Travelers enjoy exploring new cities, dining experiences, and engaging in nightlife and excursions.
A significant 29 per cent of Indians plan to travel more frequently for sporting events in 2024, with football/soccer, Formula 1, and the 2024 Paris Olympics among top choices. Beach vacations, adventure trips, and metropolitan explorations are high on the agenda, with 67 per cent aspiring for beach vacations, 58 per cent seeking outdoor adventures, and 55 per cent aiming to explore new cities. Indian travelers are set to redefine the boundaries of exploration in 2024, seeking enriching experiences and shaping a vibrant travel culture.
