Ken Block, the Pro rally driver, recently reported that he died on Monday, in a snowmobile accident. His death news was confirmed by his team Hoonigan Racing. Ken Block was an Internet sensation and gained popularity because of the daring stunts he performed behind the wheel. At the time of his death, he was only 55.
Hoonigan in a statement wrote on Instagram, “It’s with our deepest regrets that we can confirm that Ken Block passed away in a snowmobile accident today. Ken was a visionary a pioneer and an icon. And most importantly, a father and husband. He will be incredibly missed. Please respect the family’s privacy at this time while they grieve.”
The location of the accident was Wasatch County in Utah. When Block was riding up a highly steep slope, his snowmobile upended and resulted in a turn that landed it on the top of Block. This information was revealed by the Sheriff’s Office and has been quoted by Reuters.
At the time of the mishap, Ken Block was alone, however, he was riding with his whole group. At the accident spot, the 55-year-old was pronounced dead. He is survived by three kids and his wife, Lucy.
Ken Block and his Popularity
Ken Block was popular for spending the majority of his time participating in various winter sports. His interests lie in driving, snowmobiling, UTVs, and snowboarding. However, he was rarely seen on the road on race cars from Porsche and Audi or driving electric stunt cars.
The rally driver is the co-founder of DC shoes that came into the lightweight because of his prominent face in the universe of rallies. Ken Block is extremely loved as he created the Gymkhana video series and also developed the Hoonigan brand.
The 55-year-old began his career in rallying in 2005. In the Rally America Championship, Ken Block won the title of Rookie of the Year. He took part in the World Rally Championship and at the X Games, he achieved various rallycross medals.
