Marvel Rivals Leaked First Look Reveals That Spiderverse Superhero Finally Makes Into The Game

Marvel Rivals’ is an upcoming game which has been developed by NetEase, and its characters represent a virtual who’s who of Marvel heroes as well as villains. Looking at the teaser which was released by NetEase, it seems that it also features a number of trivial heroes from ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.’

A number of heroes and characters are expected to make it into Marvel Rivals, and many characters that have trivial roles in the film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse will be given significant weight in the game. For example, Peni Parker, who had a very small role in both Spider-Man and its sequel Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, will have a very dominant presence in Marvel Rivals.

The leaked screenshots also reveal that characters from Marvel, like X-Men, Avengers, and Guardians of the Galaxy, as well as other characters that made their appearance from different points of the Multiverse, could feature in future updates. There have been rumors on social media about who will feature in Marvel Rivals, but now NetEase is more amenable to sharing complete details.

Earlier, we had seen leaked trailers of the canceled Insomniac project titled Marvel’s Spider-Man: The Great Web and its plethora of Spider-Men and Spider-Women, and now fans will be happy to see that NetEase is going to fill that void.

This is the second transformation by the superhero genre that had graduated from comic books into Hollywood and is now going to dominate the gaming scene. EA is perfecting a game which features Marvel’s Iron Man and Marvel’s Black Panther, while Insomniac Games is working on Marvel’s Wolverine. There are also reports that Uncharted creator Amy Hennig and Skydance New Media are working on Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, whose trailer has just been released.

Marvel Rivals, which was created by NetEase, is expected to feature an Overwatch or a VALORANT-style shooter with hero-based mechanics and a sumptuous art style. Leaks suggest that it will require a 6v6 operating system, and it will be available on PC and console platforms upon launch. However, a mobile version will not be available, and this is a pity.

There are hundreds of characters, and NetEase will have considerable freedom to innovate. Looking at the leaked screenshots, it is evident that NetEase has not attempted to copy any designs from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The leaks also hint that there will be microtransactions and a season pass structure in the game, thus confirming that Marvel Rivals will be a live service title. NetEase is scheduled to reveal Marvel Rivals today at 8 AM PT / 3 PM GMT, so we’ll know more then – stay tuned.
