Sri Lanka to Host Women’s Asia Cup T20I Tournament in July with India and Pakistan in the Same Group

The Women’s T20I Asia Cup 2024 is set to take place in Dambulla, Sri Lanka, from July 19 to 28, with defending champions India placed in Group A alongside Pakistan, UAE, and Nepal. The tournament will feature eight teams, showcasing the growing interest in women’s cricket across Asia.

Group B will include Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and Thailand, as per the schedule announced by the Asian Cricket Council. ACC President Jay Shah expressed excitement about the increased participation and competitiveness among the teams, highlighting the growing popularity of women’s cricket in the region.

Shah emphasized the significance of the Women’s Asia Cup in promoting women’s cricket, noting the tournament’s expansion from six teams in 2018 to eight in 2024. The event aims to inspire players and fans alike, showcasing the talent pool in Asian cricket and providing a platform for women cricketers to excel internationally.

Pakistan will face Nepal and India will take on UAE on the opening day of the event on July 19. The semifinals are scheduled for July 26, with the final set to take place on July 28, as per the fixtures released by the ACC. The tournament promises to be an exciting showcase of women’s cricket talent in the region, offering players the opportunity to shine on the international stage.
