After working for ten years in service under the Olympian Gods, Kratos, a Spartan soldier is tasked by Athena to get Pandora’s box. This is the sole key to defeating Ares, the God of War.
Flashbacks reveal that Kratos earlier worked as a servant to Ares. He saved Ares and his army from getting killed during the battle. In the games, Kratos finally finds Pandora’s box and is able to kill Ares. Kratos is now sent to Mount Olympus to be the new God of War.
In 2007, its second part was released on PlayStation 2. The story is the same and continuous from Part 1. Kratos has now angered the gods and is running into the city of Rhodes. Zeus intervenes in the situation and backstabs Kratos. He is now saved by Titan Gaia. She suggests he must find Sisters of Fate, a way to change his own destiny and prevent his death at the hands of Zeus. In the games, he is able to find the Sister of Fate and change his fate. Athena intervenes and sacrifices herself to kill Zeus and preserve Olympus. She reveals to him that he is Zeus’s son and decided to betray Kratos out of fear. Now, Kratos makes a plan to join hands with Titans and Gaia to capture Olympus.
Its third part, God of War: Betrayal was also available on mobile phones. This was the only game that was released as a two-dimensional (2D). The plotline includes events between the God of War and the Ghost of Sparta. Kratos has been framed for the murder. He kills Ceryx, son of god Hermes.
