Amol Palekar is celebrating his birthday today. Born on 24 November 1944, Amol’s relationship with the acting world at a very young age. It is said that his younger sister’s classmate Chitra was fond of Marathi theater. After friends with Chitra, Amol also started doing theater and in a short time, it became the known name of Marathi theater. At the age of 27, he made permanent recognition as a director in the theater world before making his first film.

He was known for his innovative experiments in Marathi theater. He did many new experiments in Marathi theater with the well-known director Satyadev Dubey. He is said to have earned a reputation as a successful Marathi directorial director who used to come to watch his Bollywood directors like Basu Chatterjee, Hrishikesh Mukherjee and Basu Bhattacharya. Amol made her acting debut on the silver screen in 1971 with Satyadev Dubey’s Marathi film Shanta Court Chalu Ahe. It is said to be a notable film of Marathi cinema. In Hindi films, he made his debut with Basu Chatterjee’s Rajinigandha in 1974.

His Hit Films one-by-one

The film was such a success that Amol Palekar did not look back. He then went on to give more than one hit, which included many memorable films like Chitchor, Gharaunda, Meri Biwi Ki Shaadi, Baat-Baat, Golmaal, Naram-Garam, Shriman-Shrimati. He got a different identity from these films and considered him a hero representing the middle-class society of India. In 1981, Amol made his directorial debut with the Marathi film Aakrit. Till now he has directed a total of ten Hindi-Marathi films. Expressing happiness over his previous Hindi film Paheli which was nominated for an Oscar award, he said that he is happy to make the films he wanted as a director.

Amol Palekar’s biggest feature is spontaneous acting, despite the variety of acting. After watching his films, it becomes difficult for the viewer to remember how he saw Amol last time. She has made a similar impression in the role of Inspector Kamal Nath along with Rekha in ‘Jhuthi’ Film. Looking at him, it does not seem that Amol has seen any other form before this. Even the biggest actor of Bollywood is not willing to take the risk of getting out of his typed image.
