Cornell University reports 903 COVID-19 cases within a week, many infected of Omicron variant

One of the top universities of the United States, Cornell University has reported more than 900 COVID-19 cases among students within a week, from December 7-13, and university officials have confirmed that more than half of them are Omicron variant cases and fully vaccinated individuals, reported leading news channel CNN.

The COVID-19 toll of the Cornell University was updated late on Tuesday night and showed a jump in the number of infections.

VP of University Relations, Joel Malina stated in a statement that each case of the Omicron variant till has been found in fully vaccinated students, many of them had also received a booster shot. Let us tell you, Nearly 97% of the students in the university are vaccinated.

Considering the sudden rise in COVID-19 cases, Cornell University has closed the Ithaca campus, New York state.

Final semester exams have also been moved to hybrid mode, while the libraries are ordered to be shut down till further orders.
