Gama Pehalwan Started Wrestling At The Age Of 10

Born on May 22, 1878 in a village in Amritsar, Gama Pehelwan is also known as Great Gama. His real name was Ghulam Mohammad Baksh. Gama’s father Muhammad Aziz Baksh was also a wrestler. It is said that Gama started wrestling at the age of 10. Gama Pehalwan initially learned wrestling tricks from the famous ‘Wrestler Madho Singh’ of Punjab. After this, Maharaja Bhavani Singh of Datia in Madhya Pradesh provided him the facilities to do wrestling. By the year 1947, Gama Pehalwan had illuminated the name of India in the whole world with his skills. However, at the time of the India-Pakistan partition, Gama Pehalwan moved to Lahore with his family.

Gama Pehelwan Remained Unbeaten

He won several titles in his career, including the World Heavyweight Championship (1910) and the World Wrestling Championship (1927), where he was awarded the title ‘Tiger’. It is said that he also challenged martial arts artist Bruce Lee. When Bruce Lee met Gama wrestler, he learned ‘The Cat Stretch’, which is a variant of push-ups based on yoga. Gama Pehelwan became Rustam-e-Hind in the early 20th century.

Gama Pehelwan Daily Diet Included 10 liters Of Milk, Six Chickens

Gama Pehelwan had an enormous strength and his strength came from his diet. One report claimed that he used to drink 10 liters of milk daily. Along with this 6 i chickens were also included in his diet. He used to do 3000 to 5000 sit ups (push ups)
