In India, Swami Vivekananda Jayanti is commemorated every year on the 12th of January. It is the birth anniversary of one of the greatest personalities of India, Swami Vivekananda. This day is celebrated across India with great pomp and show. In the year 1984, the Government of India declared to celebrate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda as the National Youth Day.
Swami Vivekananda was a great leader who showed paths to millions of youths and inspired them throughout their life with his soulful teachings. Swami Vivekananda’s Birthday is celebrated as the National Youth Day across various colleges, schools, and educational institutions in West Bengal. At Ramakrishna Mission and Ramakrishna Math, the celebration of various cultural programs and events can be witnessed on the auspicious occasion of the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.
To mark this occasion, at Ramakrishna Math, sandhya aarti, Vivekananda’s teachings recitation, meditation, devotional songs, and Mangal aarti are performed. At the Vedanta Society of Toronto, Canada the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda is commemorated outside of India.
