J&K restores ‘waiting list’ provision for govt recruitment

The Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Council (AC) has approved the reconsideration of its earlier decision and restored provisions for drawing up wait lists in recruitment to public services. The decision was made during the AC meeting on Monday, where it was decided to withdraw the previous amendments made in various recruitment rules and regulations.

According to an official statement, the AC has decided to withdraw the amendments made in the J&K Civil Services Decentralisation and Recruitment Rules, 2010, J&K, Appointment of Class-IV (Special Recruitment) Rules, 2020, and J&K Combined Competitive Examination Rules, 2018, along with the Business Regulations of JKPSC/JKSSB, and other rules/regulations in any other department/service ab-initio.

The council also granted a one-time exemption to recruiting agencies to draw up wait lists within six months for select lists that have been issued since the previous decision. However, this exemption is subject to the condition that the wait lists are drawn within the validity period of the select list and that resultant vacancies due to non-joining of selected candidates have not been re-advertised.

The decision is expected to streamline the recruitment process and facilitate timely filling up of vacancies. It aims to avoid delays in re-referral of vacancies, reduce the time consumed in subsequent selections, and allow candidates to secure employment before reaching the upper-age limit, as stated in the official statement.

The approval for reconsideration and restoration of provisions for drawing up wait lists in recruitment to public services by the Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Council is a significant development that is expected to benefit the recruitment process and candidates seeking employment opportunities in the region. The decision is in line with the efforts to streamline and improve the efficiency of the recruitment process in Jammu and Kashmir.
