Gaborone, Feb 22 (IANS) – Botswana has experienced a surge in the number of individuals with influenza-like illness and Covid-19, according to a statement from a government official. Christopher Nyanga, chief public relations officer for the Ministry of Health, revealed that over the past four weeks, cases of influenza-like illness have ranged from 5,300 to 8,627 per week, while cases of Covid-19 have ranged from two to 41 per week.

The Ministry of Health has urged the public to remain cautious and protect themselves by adhering to hand hygiene protocols and seeking medical assistance if they exhibit symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, fatigue, or difficulty breathing. Additionally, individuals are advised to observe physical distancing measures and wear masks. Nyanga assured the public that the situation is being closely monitored and appropriate actions will be taken as necessary.
