Iran rejects claims of selling ballistic missiles to Russia

Iran Denies Selling Missiles to Russia Amid Ukraine Conflict

Iran has refuted claims made by Western media regarding the sale of ballistic missiles to Russia for use against Ukraine. Despite having no legal constraints on such sales, Iran has decided to abstain from contributing to the conflict to uphold international law and the UN Charter.

A media report alleged that Iran had supplied Russia with a substantial amount of potent surface-to-surface ballistic missiles. In response, the Biden administration cautioned Iran about potential repercussions from the international community if proven true, emphasizing a “swift and severe” response.

White House National Security spokesman, John Kirby, highlighted that Washington had not yet verified the transfer of missiles from Iran to Russia. Plans are underway to escalate the issue to the UN Security Council, potentially implementing additional sanctions against Iran while collaborating with European allies on coordinated responses.

Accusations against Iran also include the export of suicide drones to Russia for the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, which Iran categorically denies. Prior to the conflict, Iran claims to have only provided a limited number of drones to Russia, dismissing all allegations as baseless. The situation remains tense amid mounting international scrutiny and diplomatic discussions.
