Kazakhstan: Fire at Astana airport, 18 flights delayed

A fire at Astana International Airport has disrupted 18 flights, causing chaos and delays. The incident occurred at 7:50 a.m. local time and was quickly contained by airport authorities by 8:24 a.m. Passengers were successfully evacuated to a safe location due to heavy smoke from the fire.

The fire originated in the server room of Terminal No. 2, where 10 to 15 square meters of electrical cables caught fire. The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported the details of the incident as airport staff worked to manage the situation.

Despite the disruption caused by the fire, the airport has managed to continue accepting incoming flights while departure flights remain delayed. The timely response of airport officials and emergency services helped prevent further damage and ensure the safety of passengers and airport staff.
