Guinea's transitional president appoints prime minister

In a surprising move, General Mamady Doumbouya, Guinea’s transitional president, appointed Amadou Oury Bah as the new prime minister. The announcement was made in a televised address late Tuesday night. Amadou Oury Bah, a former collaborator of Cellou Dalein Diallo, brings experience from serving as a minister in the past.

Amadou Oury Bah’s background includes previous collaboration with Guinea’s former prime minister and leader of the Union of Democratic Forces of Guinea. In 2008, he briefly held the position of minister of National Reconciliation, Solidarity, and Relations with Institutions. His appointment comes after the dissolution of the previous transitional government led by Prime Minister Bernard Goumou on February 19.

General Mamady Doumbouya’s decision to appoint Amadou Oury Bah as the new prime minister marks a significant development in Guinea’s political landscape. With the country in a transitional phase, the choice of leadership will play a crucial role in shaping Guinea’s future. Details of Bah’s plans and policies are eagerly awaited as he takes on this important role in the government.
