Thousands of devotees take part in 'Palkhi Yatra' at BAPS UAE temple

Thousands of devotees participated in the grand procession of the Hindu community at the newly-inaugurated BAPS Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi. The temple will open its doors to the public from March 1. The “Palkhi Yatra” saw over 1,100 people in traditional attire, singing devotional songs.

The procession included idols from the seven main shrines of the temple placed on decorated palanquins, marking the ‘Festival of Harmony’ event. Brahmviharidas Swami addressed the community, expressing gratitude for the support. Community member Lina Barot shared her joy and appreciation for the welcoming atmosphere at the temple.

The temple will be open to the public from 9 am to 8 pm starting March 1, with Monday being the only day it will remain closed. Inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to the Gulf nation, the temple spans over 27 acres in Abu Mureikhah, near Al Rahba, and was attended by over 5,000 invitees. With a construction cost of approximately Rs 700 crore, the temple is built using sandstone sourced from Rajasthan.
