China warmly welcomes the new government in Nepal

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed readiness to work with the new government in Nepal following the reorganization of the Cabinet by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal. China hopes for political stability, economic development, and improved livelihood in Nepal through cooperation with the new government.

Prime Minister Dahal broke the alliance with the Nepali Congress and included CPN-UML and Rastriya Swatantra Party in the new Cabinet. China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning stated, “We sincerely hope that all the parties in Nepal will unite and cooperate to smoothly advance the work related to the formation of a new government.”

As a friendly neighbor, China emphasizes the importance of Nepal-China relations and aims to deepen pragmatic cooperation with the new Nepali government. The partnership is focused on adhering to the principles of peaceful coexistence and promoting strategic cooperation for mutual development and prosperity.

China has faced criticism in Kathmandu for delays in Belt and Road Initiative projects, incomplete projects by Chinese companies, corruption issues, and investigations into projects funded by China. The reorganization of Communist parties in Nepal is seen as an attempt to improve China’s image in the country and strengthen bilateral ties.

The partnership between China and Nepal is expected to bring more benefits to the people of both countries, according to spokesperson Ning. The cooperation aims to enhance traditional friendship, deepen pragmatic cooperation, and promote long-lasting friendship oriented towards development and prosperity.
