Israel Maintains Same Number of Worshipers Allowed into Al-Aqsa for Ramadan as Before

In a recent development, Israel has announced that there will be no new restrictions on the number of worshippers allowed into Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque compound during the first week of Ramadan. The decision was made following a meeting of top security officials.

The Prime Minister’s office stated, “Ramadan is sacred to Muslims; its sanctity will be upheld this year, as it is every year.” During the first week of Ramadan, access to the site will be permitted with a similar number of worshippers as in previous years, although the exact figure was not specified.

The Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, also known as the Temple Mount to Jews, is considered the third holiest site in Islam. The site is supervised by the Jordanian Waqf but is located in East Jerusalem, which was annexed by Israel after the 1967 Middle East war. Security and safety assessments will be conducted weekly to ensure the smooth functioning of the site.
