Ukraine to initiate ‘mandatory evacuation’ from 57 settlements in Kharkiv

Kiev, March 8 (IANS) Ukrainian authorities have announced a mandatory evacuation for 57 settlements in the eastern Kharkiv region. Regional Governor Oleg Synegubov confirmed the decision after a meeting of the regional defense council on Thursday.

Synegubov stated, “We decided to carry out mandatory evacuation of residents of 57 settlements.” Additionally, children and their parents or legal guardians will be forcibly evacuated from 18 settlements in Veliky Burluk and Olkhovatsky districts, as per Synegubov’s announcement.

The regional authorities will collaborate with the National Police and volunteers to ensure the safe and orderly evacuation process. The decision comes amidst escalating tensions in the region, with concerns for the safety and well-being of residents prompting the evacuation initiative.
