Rahul Gandhi unveils Congress’ ‘5 assurances for women’

In Dhule, Maharashtra, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi announced the party’s ‘Five Guarantees for Women’ during a Women’s Rights and Justice Meeting. These guarantees aim to bring prosperity to women and include financial assistance and job reservations. The proposals were greeted with enthusiasm by the audience and were unveiled online by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge.

Rahul Gandhi criticized the Central government, stating that women have faced increased burdens due to inflation, unemployment, and safety concerns in the last 10 years. The ‘Five Guarantees’ include schemes like Mahalaxmi, Aadhi Abadi-Pura Haq, Shakti Sanman, Adhikar Maitri, and Savitribai Phule Hostels, which focus on financial assistance, job reservations, and enhancing women’s rights and safety.

The Congress plans to implement women-centric promises immediately if voted to power, aiming to increase women’s representation in legislatures and Parliament. Mahila Congress President Alka Lamba highlighted the party’s past efforts to empower women through various laws and initiatives. Senior party leaders were also present at the event in support of the proposals.

The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, which entered Maharashtra on Tuesday, will continue through Dhule, Nashik, and eventually reach Mumbai for a mega-rally at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Park. The Congress-INDIA bloc leaders will officially launch their Lok Sabha campaign at this event. The party’s focus on women’s welfare and empowerment remains a key aspect of their agenda leading up to the elections.
