Kalki’s Desire to Remain ‘Relevant’ in Memory After 10 Years
Mumbai, March 15 (IANS) National Award-winning actress Kalki Koechlin shared her desire to be remembered as “relevant” 10 years from now. Speaking at the Lakme Fashion Week x FDCI, she highlighted the importance of working with female directors in the industry for a unique perspective.
Kalki, who graced the ramp for the label Aikeyah, emphasized the significance of the female gaze in filmmaking. She mentioned collaborating with renowned female directors like Zoya Akhtar, Anu Menon, Konkona Sen Sharma, and Meghana Gulzar, who brought distinct narratives to the screen.
The 40-year-old actress, known for her role in ‘Dev.D’, revealed her preference for sustainable fashion and second-hand vintage market finds. Emphasizing quality over quantity, she stated, “I’d rather spend that extra money on something of quality.”
Contrary to popular belief, Kalki debunked the notion that expensive equates to fashionable. She advocated for exploring second-hand stores, vintage markets, and local vendors for unique fashion pieces. Despite acknowledging the price for quality, she stressed the value of sustainable choices in fashion.
In her journey of 15 years in Hindi cinema, Kalki continues to carve a niche for herself by championing sustainability and female-driven narratives. Looking ahead, she aspires to leave a legacy of relevance and conscious choices, both on and off the screen.
