Putin Thanks Citizens in Victory Speech, Promises Stronger Russia

Russian President Vladimir Putin delivered a “victory speech” at his presidential campaign headquarters in Moscow, thanking citizens after preliminary results by the Central Election Commission (CEC) showed him securing his fifth term in office. Putin expressed gratitude towards citizens who voted and to warriors on the line of contact, referring to the war in Ukraine. He emphasized the importance of the Russian people as the only source of power in the country.

Putin stated, “No matter who and how they would try to intimidate and suppress us, our will, our consciousness… Nobody in our history has ever succeeded, won’t succeed now or in the future. Never.” He promised to do his best to solve the country’s tasks and achieve the goals considered top priority by all citizens.

The CEC data indicated a record 74 per cent voter turnout for this year’s election, surpassing the 2018 election turnout of 67.47 per cent. As of 1 a.m. Moscow time, more than 80 per cent of the votes have been counted, with Putin leading the race with an estimated 87.15 per cent. Putin’s win, according to the CEC results, is expected to make Russia stronger and more effective under his leadership.
