Mira Nair Joins Alia in Hosting Hope Gala for Salaam Bombay Foundation in London

Alia Bhatt recently hosted her first charity event, Hope Gala, in London to raise funds for underprivileged adolescents in India through Salaam Bombay foundation. The event saw a star-studded guest list, performances by renowned artists, and a culinary experience featuring Indian and British cuisines.

The event, held at a prestigious venue, witnessed Alia expressing her happiness in contributing towards reshaping the narratives of underprivileged children. She emphasized that with the support of generous contributors, significant strides can be made in empowering future generations.

Guests at the event included actress-model Poppy Delevingne, director Gurinder Chadha, Natasha Poonawalla of Serum Institute of India, among others. The evening featured performances by Harshdeep Kaur, Usha Jey, Yehudi Menuhin School Quartet, and a conversation between Alia and comedian Rohan Joshi.

Attendees were treated to a culinary experience curated by Michelin-star chefs Vineet Bhatia and Jason Atherton, as well as dishes from Chef Francisco Hernandez. Alia expressed her admiration for the Salaam Bombay Foundation’s dedication to uplifting at-risk youth in India’s slums and offering them hope and opportunity.

Padmini Sekhsaria, the Founder and Director of Salaam Bombay Foundation, praised Alia’s advocacy, stating that it amplifies their message of hope and reaches many at-risk youths. The funds raised at the event are aimed at transforming lives and improving the economic trajectory of their families.

Laurent Kleitman, Group Chief Executive of Mandarin Oriental, expressed pride in partnering with Alia for such a worthy cause. He highlighted Alia as the first of Mandarin Oriental’s fans to host a charity gala of this scale, emphasizing their delight in being part of the event.
