Dam breach in Orsk city, Russia causes no casualties reported

No injuries or fatalities were reported in Orsk, Russia after a dam breach caused significant flooding. The dam, designed to protect the city from the Ural River, failed and affected thousands of residents. A mass evacuation is underway, with temporary shelters set up to assist those affected.

The mayor’s office in Orsk stated that 4,258 homes and 10,987 residents were impacted by the flooding. The regional government announced that 94 individuals, including 40 children, have been moved to temporary shelters from the risk zones. Emergency repair work on the dam is ongoing to address the consequences of the flood.

Governor Denis Pasler emphasized the priority of residents’ safety and health during an emergency meeting on-site. The decision was made to cut off electricity in areas at risk of flooding if water levels reach a critical height. Authorities are working diligently to assist those affected by the flooding and prevent further damage.

The situation in Orsk remains of concern as the city continues to deal with the aftermath of the dam breach.
