‘Chalte Firte Mangalkaryalay’ transforms the wedding industry on ‘Shark Tank India 3’
Mumbai, March 2 (IANS) The new episode of ‘Shark Tank India’ season 3 showcased ‘Chalte Firte Mangalkaryalay’, a startup revolutionizing the wedding industry. Dayanand Darekar, a 50-year-old businessman from Latur, Maharashtra, leads the venture, offering a unique marriage venue on a mobile container.
With over 20 years in event management, Dayanand, along with Omkar Darekar and Sangita Darekar, presents a 1,200 sq. ft. wedding hall atop a truck’s frame. The fully air-conditioned venue can accommodate up to 150 seated guests or 300 guests with floor seating, complete with stage, mandap, and sound system.
While the business has hosted over 40 weddings, seeking a Rs 2 crore investment for a 10 per cent equity stake, they faced some challenges in sealing a deal with the Sharks. Co-founder Omkar shared his enriching experience on ‘Shark Tank’, expressing gratitude for the valuable insights gained from the Sharks.
The startup offers rental plus food for 200 people at around Rs 80,000 per day. Despite not striking a deal, the team remains resilient in their mission to make celebrations more accessible and affordable. ‘Shark Tank India 3’ viewers can catch the episode on Sony LIV for more entrepreneurial journeys like ‘Chalte Firte Mangalkaryalay’.
