Google I/O 2024 introduced a keynote address where the company focused on its AI model, Gemini. Google announced that its aim is to make AI helpful for everyone.
Google regards Gemini 1.5 Pro as the improved and new version that will be made available to its developers globally. It can be used in 35 different languages.

Gemini in Workspace
Google at Google I/O 2024 announced that its paid-tier customers will benefit from its newly launched Gemini 1.5 Pro model. In Workspace apps such as Sheets, Docs, and Gmail, a new side-panel will be added. This new feature resembles the Copilot side-panel on desktops by Microsoft.
Smarter Gemini Assistant for Android
Google announced that the Gemini AI assistant will understand the media, such as video or PDF displayed, and will attend to the queries of the users related to the respective field.
Gems: Custom Gemini Chatbots
Custom chatbots will be made available to the paid and advanced subscribers of Gemini to carry out particular work.
Google Veo
Google has introduced Veo, a new generative AI model to compete with OpenAI’s Sora. The company announced that with Veo, users will be able to make videos in a resolution of 1080p. It also allows users to edit the videos with more prompts.
Scam Call Detection on Android
According to The Financial Express, this AI will have the ability to detect if an incoming phone call is a scam. It will work on Androids and will be added shortly.
According to Google, the AI will analyze the conversation pattern of the call and will accordingly notify the user about it.
Google Project Astra
According to Google, Project Astra is a multimodal AI agent involving real-time spatial understanding. Moreover, it possesses the capability to process data in real-time and understand objects in physical space.
AI in Search
This is one of the biggest takeaways from Google’s announcement at Google I/O 2024. This feature will work for videos similar to how Google Lens works with images. The search engine will gain the capability to search and analyze based on video input.
Circle to Search
Android users in the updated version of the AI feature can now simply encircle an equation or mathematical problem. Moreover, Google’s AI will come up with steps to solve the question easily.
