Harpreet Brar, Punjab Kings’ spinner, reveals strategy of bowling numerous dot balls against RCB in IPL 2024

IPL 2024: 'Tried to bowl as many dot balls as possible vs RCB,' says Punjab Kings' spinner Harpreet Brar

In the recent IPL match between Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, off-spinner Harpreet Brar took center stage with his impressive bowling performance. Despite Punjab Kings’ loss, Brar’s bowling figures of 2/13 created pressure on RCB, leading to an exciting game at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

In a nail-biting encounter, Punjab Kings gave their all but ultimately fell short by four wickets against RCB. Brar’s exceptional bowling display saw him dismiss key players like Rajat Patidar and Glenn Maxwell, setting the stage for a captivating showdown between the two teams.

Reflecting on his performance, Brar shared his strategy stating, “I tried to dry up the runs as much as possible and I picked up two wickets in the process as well. I was trying to bowl as many dot balls as possible to create pressure on the batters.” His focus on building pressure through dot balls proved effective in disrupting RCB’s rhythm during their chase.

Brar also highlighted the role of the pitch in their game plan, mentioning, “It’s all about bowling on the right lengths in T20 cricket. We got a bit of help from the wicket in Bengaluru and it was not easy to strike the ball.” The off-spinner’s adaptability to the conditions played a crucial role in his performance on the field.

Looking ahead, Punjab Kings will face Lucknow Super Giants in their next match in Lucknow on Saturday. Fans can expect another thrilling encounter as the team aims to bounce back from their recent defeat and showcase their competitive spirit in the upcoming fixture.
