Mithun Chakraborty’s birthday is on June 16. Originally Gouranga Chakraborty, on June 16, 1950, is an Indian actor, filmmaker, and lawmaker best known for his performances in Hindi and Bengali movies. He was a speaker of the Rajya Sabha in the past. He has two Filmfare Awards and three National Film Awards to his name. “Mrigayaa” (1976), an art-house play wherein the Chakraborty earned his first National Film Award for Best Actor, was Chakraborty’s playing début.

Chakraborty starred as Jimmy in the 1982 film “Disco Dancer,” which was a box office hit in India and the Soviet Union and became the first Indian film to generate Rs.100 crore. Aside from “Disco Dancer,” Chakraborty is known for his roles in movies like “Surakksha”, “Sahhas”, “Wardat”, “Wanted”, “Boxer”, “Pyar Jhukta Nahin” and more.

For his work as Krishnan Iyer Nariyal Paniwala in the movie “Agneepath”, he got the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1991. Chakraborty is the founder and CEO of the Monarch Group, which has operations in the tourism and educational industries. He’s also the founder of Paparatzy Productions, a producing company. In 1992, he founded the Cine & T.V Artistes Association alongside Dilip Kumar and Sunil Dutt to support underprivileged actors.

He was also the President of the Film Studios Setting & Allied Mazdoor Union, which looks after the well-being of movie employees and addresses their grievances. The television series Dance India Dance, in which Chakraborty serves as Maestro, has been already inducted into the Limca Book of Records and the Guinness Record Holder. Chakraborty was a crucial mechanism among Pranab Mukherjee and Mamata Banerjee in the 2012 election, securing the Congressman’s backing from the Trinamool chief.

Mumbai, Feb 26 (IANS) Mega Star Chiranjeevi praised actor Varun Tej for his versatility in trying different genres and creating his own opportunities in the film industry. At the pre-release event of ‘Operation Valentine’, Chiranjeevi expressed admiration for the team’s efforts in crafting this aerial action film.

Chiranjeevi, the uncle of Varun Tej, attended the event as the chief guest and highlighted Varun’s courage in exploring new genres. He commended both Varun and director Shakti Pratap for their efforts in bringing ‘Operation Valentine’ to life, stating, “Varun is trying different genres, and he has created his own opportunities. He showed plenty of variations in his films.”

The veteran actor also lauded director Shakti Pratap Singh’s commitment, mentioning that the filmmaker’s short film on an aerial surgical strike even surprised Air Force officers. Chiranjeevi expressed his belief that Shakti Pratap Singh will serve as an inspiration to other directors in the Tollywood industry.
