Punjab Kings’ star Ashutosh Sharma reveals: ‘I had my flight booked for IPL 2024 but they told me to stay’

Impact substitute Ashutosh Sharma shared his journey with Punjab Kings and his match-winning partnership in the recent IPL game against Gujarat Titans. The debutant’s decision to stay back after trials paid off as he played a crucial role in PBKS’ victory by scoring 43 runs in 22 balls.

Ashutosh disclosed that he was initially set to leave after trials but was asked to stay an extra day by the team management, which eventually led to him joining the franchise. His guidance from Sanjay Bangar and the faith shown by the coaches boosted his confidence, allowing him to showcase his skills on the field.

During the match, Ashutosh and his batting partner Shashank Singh successfully chased down a target of 200 runs against Gujarat Titans. Despite Ashutosh getting out in the final over, his contribution and partnership with Shashank ensured PBKS’s victory with three wickets and one ball remaining.

The 25-year-old also commended Shashank for his outstanding performance, stating that both of them remained calm and confident throughout the game. Their collaboration and belief in each other’s abilities ultimately led to Punjab Kings achieving their highest successful chase in the 2024 IPL season against Gujarat Titans.
