Reports: BCCI to hold women’s red-ball tournament in March

The BCCI plans to introduce women’s red-ball cricket with a multi-day competition right after the Women’s Premier League. The tournament in Pune will feature teams from six zones competing in five matches, starting with quarterfinals on March 29.

The championship will progress to semifinals on April 5, 6, and 7, with the grand final scheduled for April 9, 10, and 11. The tournament aims to motivate players for domestic events, akin to the significance of Ranji Trophy for male players.

This initiative by the BCCI is a significant move towards promoting women’s cricket and providing a platform for players to showcase their red-ball skills. The introduction of a multi-day competition will add value to the domestic circuit and elevate the status of women’s cricket in India.
