Riteish Deshmukh to direct, star in historical action drama ‘Raja Shivaji’
Mumbai, Feb 19 (IANS) – On the occasion of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti, actor Riteish Deshmukh announced that he will direct and star in the historical action drama ‘Raja Shivaji’. The film will bring to life the inspiring journey of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and his rise to power, ultimately establishing Swarajya.
Riteish Deshmukh expressed his deep aspiration to immortalize the awe-inspiring journey of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on the big screen, stating that Shivaji is not just a historical figure, but an emotion and a timeless saga of valor. The film will showcase the rise of a boy who defied the invincible and went on to become the revered Raja Shivaji, earning the endearing title of ‘Raja Shivaji’.
The bilingual film, to be released in Hindi and Marathi, is a collaboration between Jio Studios and Mumbai Film Company. Genelia Deshmukh, the producer, expressed her passion for bringing the epic life of Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to the big screen, calling it their biggest dream.
Musical maestros Ajay-Atul will compose the music for ‘Raja Shivaji’, marking the debut of iconic visual storyteller Santosh Sivan in Marathi cinema as the cinematographer. The duo shared their heartfelt sentiments on composing the soundtrack, expressing their excitement to contribute to the global resonance of Shivaji’s valour and prowess through this cinematic endeavor.
